Ph.D. Candidate

Steven’s research interests include the broad topic of radiation imaging, in particular the design and implementation of novel imaging systems. His work involves the adaptation of CdZnTe detector arrays for the purpose of thermal neutron imaging, as well as techniques for the solution to large inverse problems to find gamma-ray distributions in space and energy. He enjoys working with 3D position-sensitive CdZnTe detectors because they offer very detailed information about surrounding radioactive materials. This technology provides Steven and the rest of the imaging group with the unique opportunity to approach challenging problems that span the fields of nuclear nonproliferation, medical imaging, radiation protection, and space technology.
